Hi,

In XI3.1 deski report, if adding a filter to report and click filter editor, it was able to add formula definition to the filter.

However, in Webi report, we cannot add formula to filter directly, we can only add formula to variable and then use the

variable to filter.

Request to make adding formula to filter possible.

Regards,

Cathy

I want to be able to read and set object properties using formulas/functions.

I imagine there are others that would be useful that aren't possible via conditional formatting but here are some examples: determine if a block is hidden or visible; drill down based on a formula value without user interaction; set the visibility of a a block; change the size of a column/table; bring blocks to the front(top) or push them back; add linking/remove linking; change the properties of a hyperlink etc.

Since 4.1 SP3 (I believe), in the CMC you can retrieve additional user attributes stored in a directory system (LDAP, AD).

Today, this attribute value can only be used in Universe/SQL with following syntax @VARIABLE('SI_MyAttribute').

It will be great to be able to pass this attribute value in report calculations/formulas too.

One example would be to dynamically filter a large report based on user attribute (similar to single pass bursting).

Hello SAP

In the new BI4.1 systems, the variable editor box allow us to put create/manage variable and use formula for any calculation.

However, it is observed that the syntax color isn't effective anymore and an ADAPT was raised but rejected with the following reason - the component used to support bidirectional text (needed to support right to left languages) is not supporting color coding.

This does not really sound good -

Can SAP somehow put this feature back by some way or the other, it'd really be great and helpful.  We really want this feature back.

In the Variable Editor screen of Web Intelligence, would it be possible to have an undo button similar to what is available in a standard toolbar, for the right side of the Formula box.  There is currently an X icon to delete a complete formula however longer more complex formula it would be nice to have an option to "undo" the last change for a formula as oppose to deleting entire formula and having to add it in again.  Same goes for BI LaunchPad...

It would add great versitility to conditional formating if a "Cell Contents" operator was added to the display formula objects.  This would allow greater reuse of formats across report dimensions and measures.

For example, using Input Controls or prompts to custom format measure percision. (ie displaying currencys in dollars, thousands or millions).  Currently separate variables are required for each measure to implement display precisions.

Alternatively, divisor, precision and rounding could be added into custom number formats.

I can't tell you how many times I've been working in the Variable Editor to create a new formula in a document that contains multiple data sources and had to guess to find the correct instance of an object because I couldn't tell which query it came from.

It would be super cool, excellent, and awesome if the Available Objects in the Formula Editor / Variable Editor had the same option as the list of Available Objects in the Report Panel. A simple toggle at the bottom of the list for:

- Arranged By: Query

- Arranged By: Alphabetic Order

To be able to see the objects in a group by Query would be VERY HELPFUL.

Thank you for considering.

In the URL
http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BOBJ/Conversion+from+Desktop+Intelligence+to+Web+Intelligence
'Conversion from Desktop Intelligence to Web Intelligence'

As respects 'Formula Editor usability',
WebI description,
'WebI is more static. Anyway, WebI users benefit from auto-complete the object/function based on first few characters for much faster creation, ........'

I do not need auto-complete functionality.
The function of auto-complete cannot be substituted for context-sensitive, operators change.
WebI formula editor should be same DeskI operation.

Variable Editor Formulas – cursor does not stay in formula window if you double-click when adding to the formula from the ‘data’, ‘functions’, or ‘operators’ menus. This causes an extra step of having to click back into the formula window. If you drag-and-drop, then the cursor stays in the attribute window.
