Working with hierarchies (direct access/OLAP to HANA Calc. Views in my scenario), I need to be able to fold/unfold parts of a hierarchy to a certain level in the hierarchy tree at runtime.

At this point (version 4.2 SP3 Patch 2) there seems to be no function/formula to make this happen.

Furthermore, I need to be able to define which nodes are displayed unfolded and which nodes are folded at design time, and this hierarchy representation should be preserved, when I refresh the Webi report.

Today, as of 4.2. SP3 Patch2 this does not seem possible neither : (

Environment:

HANA SPS12

BO4.2SP3

My customer has a calculation view, quite complex, with 2 prompts : date_from and date_to to define a period.

By default, these prompts are filled in HANA with current date (now()) to fit Business expectations.

On top of this HANA view, we have 3 Webi reports:

  • One for current date (date_from = date_to = today)

  • One for current month (date_from = 1st day of the month until now)

  • Current year (from Jan1st to 31/12/xxx)

They would like to be able to schedule these reports in the BO platform.

However, through this panel, it is impossible to overwrite the default value sent by HANA.

We would like to have a panel of expression, where we can use classic webi’s formula

Our only solution is to duplicate the complex HANA view by 3, and change the default values of the prompts. You can imagine that the maintenance will become quickly a nightmare.

What we have to do…

CL_REVENUE = CL_REVENUE_1 = CL_REVENUE_2 = CL_REVENUE_3!!! Only default values for the prompts are differ

In comparison to selection screens in ABAP reports, BEx Analyser, BO Analysis, etc. WebI prompt window has disadvantages making users unhappy:

1. Select-Options function (like we know it in ABAP) is not available.

- The users have to insert many lines and spend lots of time when they need to restrict data by a couple of hundreds values (the values may be provided by another department in an Excel file). We know about "In List" option but it is not a simple task for many users to form a semicolon-separated string out of an Excel sheet column. We know about options with BEx data sources but this is not the case.

- The users do not have the ability to exclude certain values. So they are forced to enter many values again.

- The users cannot realize complex limitations without report change (for example filter data using a list of values, a list of intervals and a list of excluded values).

2. Global report variants (also like we know it in ABAP reports) are not available.

The users need an

Performance in exporting a Web Intelligence document to an external file is quite slow in BI 4.2. For example, when exporting a document which has 58,000 records of “eFashion” sample data to a text file, it takes approximately 69 seconds. In contrast, exporting the same document in BOE XI 3.1 is completed in 15 seconds. I observe the same issue in exporting to Excel format.

You may say that comparing these two versions is like “apples and oranges”, since BI 4.2 has a lot of new functions. But from the end-user’s perspective, simply it is a regression in BI 4.2. Therefore, performance improvement in exporting documents is needed.

The exact version which  I experienced this issue is 4.2 SP02 patch3, which has a fix for Note#2321158. 2321158 - Slow performance is experienced when exporting Web Intelligence documents to Excel format https://launchpad.support.sap.com/#/notes/2321158

Unfortunately, the performance of this version is still not good enough.

In a webi report where two charts are defined, the second one linked to the first one. When a category is selected in the first chart the second one values change because they are linked.

Currently, when a corporate palette is defined for both charts, the first one follows the palette starting from the first color but the second one not allways starts from the first corporate palette color. One category selection starts in linked chart from first corporate palette color but following selection don't start from de begining, it continues with the following color.

We would like that there could be an alternative mechanism of assigning colors that started in linked charts allways from the first corporate palette color. We think this mechanism is more understandable.

It has been explained in the attached document.

Hello,

Charts in Web Intelligence report change color when Refresh on Open is enabled.

The color assignment changes each time it is opened in Web Intelligence.

The palette remains the same but the color assignment of the lines or slices is changed on each open.

=> SAP Note 2050761

Manual assignment or freezing colors is not possible as the chart must be shown dynamically in the predefined sort order of our CI colors. As the dataset changes every year this is also no possibility to recreate the charts.

Regards

When you refresh a report with lots of queries interactively, it would be great if the refresh dialogue box could show which query was currently being refreshed.  That way you can get a feel straight away for how it is progressing, whether it is on the last query or if it still hasn't moved on from the current query.  Something simple like showing the name of the current query and perhaps the number query it is out of all the queries.  For example, in a report with three queries if the report is currently refreshing the second query which is called Margin MTD the refresh dialogue would show "Margin MTD (2/3)".

It would be also useful if a "history" of queries that have already have been refreshed could be shown as part of the update.  So, in the above example if the first query was "Sales YTD" and took 2 minutes to run then by the time the second query was going I'd want to be able to see "Sales YTD (1/3) 2 minutes 0 seconds" as well as the update for the current query.  And final

It would be greate if the chart in webi can add a option to display the data table within chart directly. Although it can be done by adding another table below the chart, its hard to align the columns between the bar chart and table. So it would be great if it can add a checkbox inside the format chart to show the data table directly below the chart (just like Excel).

The WebIntelligence Extension Points Javascript API is a great addition for customers to get the most out of their WebI deployment.

Although the API allows us to getDataProviders(obj), there is no way currently to changing the mapping from one Universe to another.

We need a equivalent function to the RESTful platform API raylight/v1/documents//dataproviders/mappings?originDataproviderIds=&targetDatasourceId=

The use case is; we have many thousands of user documents that have been built against UNV universes. We want to migrate these documents to the equivalent UNX universes. We can script against the Platform API to change documents in bulk, but due to the fact that documents must be refreshed to complete the mapping change - time sensitive data may be lost.

By using the WebIntelligence Extension Points Javascript API, we can build a listener that checks for a document refresh.

When the event is triggered we can check that the document providers are against a UNV universe that we h

Hello,

We would like to monitor our sales by day of the week (from Monday to Sunday), the problem is that on Saturdays there are never sales but we sould still like Saturday to appear in the chart.

This old challenge was typically solved with the use of an auxiliiary masterfile or dummy rows, but we came across this wonderful formula that "fills up the wholes" and apparently does the job. Unfortunately this is only supported for day, quarter, month and year and the problem is that when trying to use it for Weekdays it does not aggregate or shows #MULTIVALUE

Our request is to enhance the TimeDim formula and make it operative for all sorts of time dimensions (namely for weeks / day of the week), or at least improve this functionality so days can be aggregated.

The benefit for this is to make WebI easier to use when building dashboard-like deliverables or demos.

Many thanks!

Best Regards,
