One of the rather frustrating experiences for community contributors who answer questions is that many of those answered questions don't actually get properly closed/accepted.

That way, the question stays open and unfinished and no achievements get recorded against the answerer's account.

Most often it looks as if either clicking the 'accept' link is not obvious enough or the OP cannot be bothered to do anything beyond writing a quick "thanks", "thank you", "ta' or something like that.

In order to improve this situation, I propose to have a function that looks at the text of replies to answers and checks for such grateful phrases and, once found, triggers a UI dialog offering to accept the answer right away.

This would lead community users towards the wanted behaviour, i.e. closing answered questions, while also providing recognition to the answerer as well as psychological closure around the open question.

From time to time it can be seen that users are changing their questions after a public comment has been added or after an answer have been given, which sometimes turns the answer into nonsense and lets the people who answered look like stupid idiots who had not understood the question.

A change should only be allowed before an answer is available (like it was in Jive)

General

When editing a comment or answer, the edit is often related to the content the comment or answer was posted to. I.e. reading back the question and your answer, you realize you misunderstood something in the question.

Problem

Currently when editing only the comment or answer itself is visible, making it necessary to surf back to or open the original content in a new window for reference, or to try and remember what the OP wrote.

Solution

On the edit (comment or answer) page, show the content the comment or answer is related to.

The password requirement should allow for pass phrases for improved security. 8 characters with alpha numeric and special characters only makes it difficult for the end user to remember and can be easily pattern matched by a machine. Better yet, offer some sort of two factor authentication.

The current requirement feels like a legacy system constraint.

So its easier to see on which version of your system the problem or feature or solution occurs in a strict format. Next step could be to have a setting like work-around, feature, bug, ... so later on it is possible to see some stats, so people now when a version is out, which one to apply at the company

The point is right now it's all tied to the S_ user which makes sense based on previous generation of infrastructure and access rights. But it's very frustrating when you get a different job and you get a new S_user every time and all the previous history if lost. Also some consulting people enjoy using different S_users at the same time - different customers.

If there would be an identity tied to a person that he could somehow connect to a number of S_users at the same time it would be much better.

I think if users are allowed to maintain more details on

  • who they are,
  • what they do,
  • what their expertise are, and
  • how they can help others in community,

it could improve visitors experience on the site. It is particularly useful to connect / follow each other based on common interests.

Hello,

SAP is the home of ABAP, but if I try to maintain a wiki page, I cannot highlight ABAP coding.

See for instance:

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/x/AAEPE

I have all kinds of choices for programming languages, but not ABAP!

Please add ABAP as a code highlighting option for the code block and the highlighter macros.

Best Regards,

Guilherme.

It would be great to have the possibility to have an effective date on the Family Entity Object used in Job Profile Builder and integrated with Employee Central Module. It would allow to keep a trace on possible changes made on the title of the Family.
